Around 3,000 safe-deposit boxes were breached as thieves drilled through a basement wall and got away undetected, according to police in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

The robbers stole valuables with an insured value of at least $36 million from a bank in Gelsenkirchen, western Germany.

A police spokesman told AFP that the break-in was “indeed very professionally executed", likening it to the heist movie Ocean’s Eleven.
